Pitching: Are You Prepared This Year?
As we wrap up December and head into January, you'll want to make certain you don't wait until mid-January before attention is paid to your pitching preparation. If you are a coach or parent reading this, it's time to help your athlete(s) gear up for the season mentally and physically.
Good pitchers always prepare more than their competitors. Always. That is in part what makes them good. Remember, I'm talking of preparation in all areas, mental, physical, and emotional.
We are a few short weeks from entering the new year, and the time most serious athletes begin to prepare their arms for the season. Here is a quote I found recently that I find particularly helpful this time of year. More importantly than the tactics he uses, pay attention to his attitude towards preparation.
Adopt or teach this attitude this season and success will find you.
"The key was having spent so much time shadow pitching and dealing with adversity. I knew there'd be times when I'd disagree with the ump on balls and strikes, and I knew there would be thousands of screaming fans, but I handled it well because I had prepared for it all season."
